HGVparking wants to support the transport industry by campaigning for more parking, not less
"When I started driving I had the idea of a website where drivers could share their favourite parking spots. After putting together a list of my own, I soon realised the enormity of the project, but I kept working on the idea the whole time when I parked up in the evenings. There was a need and I was going to be the one to do it."

"Since publishing HGVparking.com four years ago, and seeing it was a hit, I am happy to have helped so many drivers.
I drive because I love it, I also love HGVparking and I aim to realise its full potential. Protecting existing parking is just as important as getting more parking."

Six unique parking categories

Find the right kind of parking for you

Here at hgvparking we know that sometimes a layby is not right for you, or maybe you just want to get away from it all and have a nice wander round town, perhaps a shower is long overdue and only the cleanest truckstop will do.

We created six unique categories of parking to help you get parked just the way you want.

Truckstops

Laybys

Car parks

Truckstops are more often privately owned individual operations, with some small chains like Exelby. Some old favorites like Jack's Cafe and Salt Box are a welcome sight from what feels like a bygone era, but still offering all you could wish for. Some modern efforts like the stunning Formula Services show what is possible still.
Much maligned, and often with good reason, laybys are often a last resort for parking. However hgvparking tries to list the good few laybys where it maybe quiet, safe, near a pub, or just that there maybe no other alternative nearby. Please remember sidelights during darkness to stay legal, some counties are hot on this rule with some tickets issued.
Carparks, or town lorry parks, are a much treasured resource for those drivers wanting to explore or use the facilities of the nearby town. Typically council owned and run facilities are often shared with cars during the day, and sadly they are also in decline as councils try to reap more money from land sales. Use them or lose them I say!

Industrial roads

Garages

Motorway services

Industrial areas, and sometimes side roads, are a vast resource used by drivers across the country. Sometimes handy for the nearby town, or for a next day delivery on the same estate, industrial areas provide the greatest number of parking spaces across the UK.
Garage forecourts sometimes provide a few parking spaces for drivers. Often handy for use of toilets and the usually associated shops, they provide frequently quiet and safe parking that is typically free. Although sometimes a donation is made to charity for a stay.
MSA's are the backbone of the motorway network, providing facilities for drivers including showers and hot food. Renowned for being very expensive in all aspects though, they are often a last resort for the overnight driver. Some improvement is needed here.
